According to the Daily Mail, Henry Mauriss has made a £350 million offer for Newcastle United.
Newcastle have been on the verge of being bought out by Saudi-investors for a long time now, but the Premier League have taken months to approve the deal.
Mauriss now apparently senses that the time could be right to launch a rival offer, and he has submitted a bid of £350 million to take Newcastle from Mike Ashley.
Mauriss’s bid is actually higher than the £300 million offer that the Saudi group had made.
Sources close to the Mail have apparently insisted that the offer is genuine and that Mauriss is confident that his offer would be far less complicated to complete.
The deal may not be quite as exciting as the previously proposed takeover in monetary terms for Newcastle supporters, as much had been promised under their potential Saudi owners.

Newcastle have already been linked with some high profile players and managers, which have set pulses racing at St. James’ Park.
However, the news still is likely to be considered as a reason to be positive by Newcastle fans.
Newcastle supporters are generally very keen for Mike Ashley’s time at the club to come to an end, and it now seems that he is nearing the exit door, with two potential buyers lining up to take the club.
