Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has told the Bellagraph Nova Group to ‘come back when they have bought the club’, amid rumours they want him as manager, the Daily Mail report.
BNG have made contact with Shearer, as they look to get the Newcastle great’s opinion on taking a job at St. James’ Park, if their takeover goes through.
But Shearer was apparently fairly dismissive of their calls for now, as he wants to see proof that they are capable of buying the club first.
BNG’s offer is currently said to be below Mike Ashley’s valuation for Newcastle, which puts some doubt over whether the takeover will take place.
The Magpies have faced uncertainty over the ownership of their club for months.
Multiple groups have now tried to buy Newcastle in recent times, but nobody has been able to get a deal done.
BNG’s plans do seem exciting but, like most Newcastle supporters, Shearer is cautious over the latest rumours and is said to want to see them at the helm, before he entertains becoming manager again.
If Shearer was picked to take over from Steve Bruce it is likely that he would be considered a controversial choice.
Despite his wonderful time there is a player, Shearer’s last spell as manager of Newcastle did not go to plan, with the North East side ultimately getting relegated under his stewardship.
