Rangers announced on Monday that they have signed Scott Wright on a pre-contract agreement, but manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants the attacking midfielder at Ibrox now.
The Daily Record has reported that Rangers boss Gerrard wants to add Wright to his squad now, as the Gers aim to clinch the Scottish Premiership title as soon as possible and also go far in the Europa League.
The report has claimed that the Aberdeen hierarchy would prefer to keep the 23-year-old until the end of the season, and the Scotsman himself has told the Dons that he is happy to stay and see out his contract.
Transfer now or in the summer?
Rangers are set to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, and the Gers are not exactly in need of another attacking player.
Of course, having Wright for their Europa League campaign would help Rangers, but if Aberdeen are not going to let go of the 23-year-old without being paid a good transfer fee, then it would be best for Rangers to let the youngster stay at the Pittodrie Stadium until the end of the season.
According to WhoScored, Wright has made 13 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Aberdeen so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.
