Newcastle United’s Saudi investors still think that their takeover bid will be a success, despite Henry Mauriss now making a rival bid, according to the Chronicle

Mauriss has apparently made an offer for Newcastle which actually exceeds the price that the Middle East consortium, led by Amanda Staveley, had agreed.

Newcastle’s potential Saudi owners have been waiting for months now to be given approval by the Premier League, but have hit delay after delay.

Mauriss has now apparently sensed an opportunity, and his bid presents yet another obstacle for the potential buyers.

The Chronicle insist, though, that they believe that their bid will eventually go through, and it is just a question of being patient.

It is fair to say that most Newcastle supporters seem more excited over the potential Saudi-investor’s takeover bid than Mauriss’s.

If the group takeover then Newcastle will become one of the richest sides in the world and they appear to have big ambitions for the future.

However, Mauriss insists that his takeover bid would be a much smoother process, and that could appeal to Mike Ashley, after months of uncertainty.
