According to The Daily Mail, the prospective new owners of Newcastle United do not think that Matty Longstaff’s future at the club is close to being sorted out.

Longstaff is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of the month, and the midfielder has an offer of £30,000 per week plus a £2.5 million signing-on fee from Italian club Udinese, according to the report.

The 20-year-old midfielder has also reportedly refused a verbal offer from the Magpies worth £20,000 per week.

According to The Daily Mail, the prospective new Newcastle owners – Saudi Arabia’s PIF – are aware of the situation of Longstaff, and ‘believe a resolution is not close’.

Newcastle United exit inevitable?

Longstaff has made only a handful of appearances for the Newcastle first team, and the midfielder is still raw and developing as a footballer.

With just weeks left on his current contract, it does seem inevitable that the youngster will leave Newcastle.

The appeal to play in Serie A is understandable, and the huge salary on offer must also be very tempting indeed.
