Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has insisted that the club is up for sale, and there are rumours that another bid has been made.

Peter Kenyon is said to be leading a consortium looking to buy Newcastle from Mike Ashley, with the club still on the market.
There have been numerous reported takeover attempts at Newcastle which haven’t materialised in recent years, so the latest rumours are being treated with caution.
However, it is thought that Ashley does have a genuine offer on the table for Newcastle, which is worth £125 million.
If the takeover does go through it would immediately plunge Bruce’s future into doubt.
Bruce was a controversial appointment at Newcastle in the first place, and he has not made a positive start at St. James’ Park.

But it is suggested that Newcastle’s potential new owners have no plans to replace Bruce immediately if they do take charge.
Instead, the prospective owners are said to be planning to support Bruce, as Newcastle look to climb the table.
The Magpies are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, and sit just above the drop zone.
