A recent report in Spanish publication Marca claimed that Newcastle are interested in signing former Tottenham Hotspur winger Bale this summer.
It was reported that the Wales international is “being talked about as a priority” for the prospective new owners of Newcastle.
According to The Daily Star, the takeover of the Magpies will be announced soon, with The Times reporting that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will own 80% of the club.
However, The Chronicle has reported that Bale’s camp is “bemused” by the speculation, and has dismissed it as “bad journalism”.
Unlikely Newcastle United transfer
Bale is one of the best players in the world, and there is no doubt that the Wales international would be a blockbuster signing for Newcastle.
However, it is hard to see the former Spurs star move to the Magpies this summer, given that they will not be in the Champions League next season and will not challenge for the Premier League title.
