Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was overheard screaming at Mohamed Salah to get back and defend prior to taking him off, the Daily Mirror report.
Salah was subbed off just after the half-hour mark last night, as Liverpool slipped up against Chelsea.
With the Reds needing a goal the decision from Klopp shocked many observers, with Jamie Carragher even stating he was ‘surprised’ live on Sky.
But Klopp’s decision may have been as a punishment for Salah not putting in enough work off the ball.
The German boss was apparently shouting at the Egyptian to get back and defend, after he failed to track Chelsea’s forwards.

In the end the decision backfired, as Liverpool just couldn’t find a route back into the game without their top scorer.
The Reds barely threatened the Chelsea goal as they sunk to a defeat which now looks disastrous to their chances of making it into the Champions League places.
