Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been told by the club’s board that he does not need to sell any key players this summer, according to the Sunday World (print edition, June 7th, page 72).
Liverpool may be dominating the Premier League, but their finances are not as healthy as might be imagined.
The Reds failed to fund a move for Timo Werner, and Klopp has been informed that he may have to do without any major additions for the second season running.
There was a feeling that Liverpool’s squad may need refreshing in the summer, despite their impressive campaign this time around.
However, it seems that Klopp will have to work with what he has for another year.
The Liverpool boss’s transfer plans are likely to be blocked by the board.
The Reds will at least keep their current squad together though, and that is good news.
The likes of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah have both been tentatively linked with moves away from Liverpool heading into the summer, but Klopp has been assured that no player in his current side needs to be sold to raise funds.
That should be a relief to the Liverpool manager, who will surely want to keep the bulk of his current group together, after experiencing such success this term.
