Tottenham Hotspur might be looking at a pretty grim transfer window, when it opens.

With no fans spending time or money inside their £1 billion stadium, Spurs are struggling financially with the season being suspended.

Tottenham availed of a government scheme to furlough over 500 non-playing staff in March, but chairman Daniel Levy later reversed that decision.

Still, it’s clear that the Lilywhites are going to have a tough time of it and that’s particularly true in the transfer market.

According to The Standard, Levy has told Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho that spending is going to be ‘severely restricted’ and that the Portuguese coach might even have to rely on loans and free transfers.

For a club that reached a Champions League final 12 months ago and broke their club-record transfer on £63 million Tanguy Ndombele, what a difference a year makes for the North Londoners.

To make matters worse, Mourinho’s side are more than likely going to miss out on Champions League football – and Champions League revenue – if and when the 2019-20 campaign goes ahead.

Spurs are eighth in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
