According to 90Min, Leeds United have told Michael Skubala that he could stay in charge until the end of the season.

Leeds’ current search for a new manager is not going well, and Skubala is set to take charge of the Whites’ upcoming fixtures.

If the Yorkshire club’s next few games go to plan, Skubala has been told he could stay in charge until the end of the season.

Skubala, who had been in charge of the club’s U23s, was appointed as interim manager alongside Chris Armas and Paco Gallardo following the departure of Jesse Marsch. He oversaw his first match in charge on Sunday, a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Leeds are seemingly not in a huge rush to appoint a permanent manager and are happy to take their time to find the right candidate to take over from Marsch – potentially in the summer.

However, Leeds may well be rushed into an appointment if results don’t pick up, but it seems as though the club are banking on Skubala to pick up a few points against Everton and Southampton.

Skubala is highly regarded by the club and has been praised for his work with the U23s. The 40-year-old has been with Leeds since 2022, having previously worked as the manager of the England Futsal Team.

While Skubala has no experience of managing a first-team at a senior level, he could be cut-out for this job, as he already knows the players well and has a good understanding of the club’s culture and philosophy.

Leeds are currently 17th in the Premier League table, having failed to win a single league game since the World Cup, and they are in danger of being relegated.

If Skubala does stay in charge until the end of the season, it will be a big opportunity for him to show what he can do and prove that he is capable of managing a team at the highest level. The Leeds job is a high-pressure role, but the club’s hierarchy appears to have faith in him and are willing to give him a chance.

It remains to be seen whether Skubala will remain in charge until the end of the season, or if the club will appoint a permanent manager before then, but it sounds more and more like Leeds are open to the idea of letting Skubala run with this until the end of the season.
