Report: What Kenwright thinks of Martinez as Everton consider shock deal

Roberto Martinez still has ‘huge respect and affection’ for Everton, according to a report from The Athletic.

It’s claimed that Everton discussed making a move for Martinez on Tuesday as Carlo Ancelotti made a swift exit to Real Madrid.

This would be pretty controversial from Everton, given that they sacked Martinez back in 2016.

Martinez has no ill-feeling towards Everton, and actually still loves the club – opening the door for a return to Goodison Park.

Additionally, it’s stated that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is still a big admirer of Martinez, and the decision to let him go was actually made by Farhad Moshiri.

Many on the Everton board let Martinez go with heavy hearts, which all suggests they would be open to having him back.

Martinez started well at Everton after arriving from Wigan Athletic in 2013, but his inability to build a solid defence proved his downfall.

Now in charge of Belgium, Martinez is believed to be keen on a return to club management, and he could find his way back to Everton in a move that nobody would have predicted.
