Journalist David Ornstein has told Sky Sports that Liverpool’s current owners, the Fenway Sports Group, has told manager Jurgen Klopp that they are not going to sell the club quickly.

The Athletic journalist has claimed that FSG have told Klopp that they will give due to consideration to when and to whom they will sell Liverpool.

What FSG have told Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Ornstein said, as transcribed by RTK: “[Klopp] has just signed a new long-term contract and from what we hear, he’s been reassured by the ownership that they’re not going to do this rapidly. They’re going to do it – if it happens – to the right people.

“And therefore, I think they’d have that moral compass as well. I don’t think [FSG] will want to pass Liverpool into hands they’re not happy with.

“We already hear rumours within the industry that they’ve rejected approaches, or they’re not keen to go forward with expressions of interest from parties that they perhaps don’t feel are the right route. And by that, many people would assume a nation-state.”

Encouraging

In our view, David Ornstein’s inside information about FSG and Jurgen Klopp is very encouraging for Liverpool fans.

It shows that FSG care about Liverpool and will not just pass the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners to whoever comes for them.

Liverpool are not having a great season in the Premier League at the moment, but they are very much in the running for the top four.

And the Reds are still in the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are a global brand, and they would thrive under new and better owners who would invest a lot more than FSG have done over the years.

We think that Liverpool fans should stay positive about the future of the club under new owners, whoever they might be.
