Everton have made a disappointing start to the new Premier League season, having won just two league games this term.
According to a report from The Sun, some of the Everton players believe that Ronald Koeman is resigned to his fate at Goodison Park and is awaiting the sack after the Toffees’ lacklustre start to the Premier League season.
Koeman’s men have made a disappointing start to the campaign. Everton are just two places and two points above the bottom three heading into this international break and went into the break having lost 1-0 to Burnley at Goodison Park at the weekend.
The pressure appears to be mounting on the Dutchman – though the club’s owner Farhad Moshiri has handed the former Southampton boss a vote of confidence, after pointing out that they have had a number of difficult fixtures already.
But The Sun suggests that Everton are already considering potential replacements for Koeman, while the squad believe that the 54-year-old is keen to leave after their poor start.
The Sun adds that Koeman’s demeanour around the training ground has supposedly changed, and some of the players are convinced that their boss is almost awaiting the sack.
Though the report suggests that Everton’s players are starting to feel that a change may be inevitable due to Koeman’s recent attitude, it would be odd if he was not somewhat deflated after their start to the season and the way that they played against Burnley.
With two weeks to dwell on the defeat, it is not surprising that the mood on Merseyside is currently glum, but it will be a lot more interesting to take note of the atmosphere when the squad is back together following the internationals and the game against Brighton is nearing.
