Arsenal’s scouting team are still of the belief that they made the right deal when signing Nicolas Pepe, Football London say.

Pepe has had a difficult time at Arsenal since arriving from Lille for a club record fee back in 2019.

The Ivorian is yet to really consistently perform for the Gunners, and he has been able to nail down a starting place.

There are now fears among Arsenal supporters that the club may have overpaid for Pepe.

But the feeling among Arsenal’s scouting team is that they actually got things right with Pepe.

The Gunners recruitment network apparently believe Pepe was the best option available to them at the time and he could still prove his worth.

If Pepe is to turn things around at Arsenal then he will need to become far more of an attacking influence.

While the tricky wide-man has shown glimpses of real quality, he has been accused of being too predictable and often seems to be on the periphery of games.

Pepe has played seven times for Arsenal this term, but only has one goal to his name so far.
