Arsenal bringing Thomas Partey to the Emirates Stadium was never going to be straightforward.
The Ghana powerhouse has been heavily linked with a move to North London in recent weeks and months and things seemed to be going a little too well.
For whatever reason, Arsenal just don’t seem to have much competition for the 27-year-old Atletico Madrid star, who had a brilliant performance against Barcelona in midweek.
But that could be about to change.
According to AS in Spain, Italian outfit Napoli are now competing with the Gunners to sign Partey.
The report claims that the Serie A giants may view the player as a long-term replacement for Allan.
That being said, AS also add that Arsenal have told Partey that they’ll treble his wages if he joins the Premier League side, and that Napoli could struggle to match the financial package on offer in England.
It certainly seems like the Emirates remains the most likely destination for Partey, but it’s worth pointing out that this is a brilliant player and there’s a lot richer clubs than Napoli around, meaning that the longer we go without hearing Arsenal have signed him, the more chance of there being real complications.
