According to ESPN, Alexandre Lacazette wants assurances from Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta over his role next season.

It has been reported that the France international forward will hold talks with the Gunners over his future in the coming weeks.

Atletico Madrid are interested in signing the 29-year-old forward, who could cost as much as £60 million, according to ESPN.

Sensible plan

Lacazette is a very good forward, but the France international has not always played regularly, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the clear first-choice striker at Arsenal at the moment.

Aubameyang is one of the best strikers in the world, and there is no doubt that the Gabon international will play ahead of the Frenchman if he stays at the Emirates Stadium next season.

It does make sense for Lacazette to make sure that he will play a regular role for Arsenal next season.

After all, the 29-year-old is a very good forward who would thrive at Atletico, who challenge for the La Liga title and also compete in the Champions League on a regular basis.

According to WhoScored, Lacazette has made 15 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in the process.
