Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka’s leadership role in Mikel Arteta’s side has been highlighted by the Athletic, in their report on the Gunners’ clash with Southampton.
Xhaka was one of Arsenal’s most vocal players on the pitch on Tuesday evening, as the North London side picked up an impressive 3-1 victory.
The £35 million Swiss international’s (Daily Mail) instructions did not just stay on the pitch, though.
Xhaka was overheard discussing tactics with Arsenal’s Cedric Soares before the game in the tunnel, as he looked to give the right-back some insight into some patterns of play that the side had been working on.
Xhaka’s words of advice may well have aided Cedric, as he impressed and played a role in two of Arsenal’s three goals at St. Mary’s.
Xhaka was also heard praising Nicolas Pepe and giving Bukayo Saka positional advice during the game.
The report really highlights Xhaka’s importance to Arsenal’s team from a leadership standpoint.
The midfielder also showed what he could do with the ball at his feet in midweek, though.
Xhaka put in a really strong performance against Southampton and his partnership with Thomas Partey is showing signs of flourishing now.
