It looks like Arsenal have received some hope in regards to keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club.
The red-hot striker is linked with a move away from North London this summer after entering into the final 12 months of his contract.
As a result, Arsenal are in an awkward position.
Do the Gunners cash in on the 31-year-old striker, while there is interest, or run the strong risk of losing him for absolutely nothing a year from now?
The third option is signing him up to a new deal and a report from ESPN has offered the Emirates Stadium club some hope.
ESPN claim that Aubameyang has informed Arsenal that he wants £250,000 per week over the course of a new three-year contract – a £50k-a-week increase on his existing salary.
The report adds that ‘talks are underway’ and the above is what the former Borussia Dortmund hitman has requested.
Keeping Aubameyang is so, so important for Arsenal.
Without him, it’s worrying to wonder where the Gunners – who are eighth in the Premier League – would be in the table, considering Aubameyang has scored 19 league goals for them.
He’s also one of the club’s most ruthless-ever goalscorers, having reached the 50-goal mark quicker than anybody in Arsenal history – including Thierry Henry – and it’s vital that they give him what he wants.
