Celtic midfielder Scott Brown is reportedly on the radar of Western Melbourne.

Scott Brown of Celtic is seen at full time during the Scottish Premier League between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park Stadium on September 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Western Melbourne will make a formal offer for Celtic midfielder Scott Brown next week, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that the Australian club spent Thursday working on a deal to convince Brown to join them.

The A-League outfit will offer the former Scotland international midfielder a three-year contract next week, according to the report.

Celtic exit on the cards?

Brown has recovered from his recent injury problems, but the Scottish midfielder is not guaranteed a place in the Celtic starting lineup at the moment.

Given that the midfielder is 33 years of age, the Hoops may have to start thinking of life after him.

Although Brown is a very good combative midfielder and remains an important player in Brendan Rodgers’s squad, the chance to play in the A-League and probably earn more than he is getting at Celtic may be very tempting.

Celtic are going strong in the Scottish Premiership and have also progressed to the knockout rounds of the Europa League this season.

Brown has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million.
