West Ham United youngster Sead Haksabanovic is reportedly closing in on a loan move to AIK.

According to a report from Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt, Sead Haksabanovic is expected to complete a loan move from West Ham to AIK by the end of the week with a permanent option set to be included in the deal.

Haksabanovic has struggled since moving to the London Stadium for £2.7 million in 2017 (via BBC Sport). He has made just two first-team appearances for the Hammers, and was given the green light to join Manuel Pellegrini’s old side Malaga on loan in the summer.

However, the Montenegro international has seen that loan deal end this month having barely featured for the Spanish second division side. But it appears that he may not be back with his parent club for long.

Fotboll Direkt reports that the 19-year-old is closing in on a loan move to AIK, and a deal is set to be agreed by the end of the week, with a permanent option thought to be included in the terms.

It certainly does appear that the teenager is facing a huge uphill battle if he hopes to turn his fortunes around at West Ham. The switch to Malaga could have provided the perfect stage for the youngster to show what he could do – especially given Pellegrini’s connections with the club.

AIK should give Haksabanovic the platform to impress. But obviously, his performances may well go under the radar back at West Ham, and it may take something special to leave him in a better position should he return to the Irons in the summer.
