Derby County were said to be trying to hijack Hull City’s move for the West Ham United centre-back.

According to the Sun, Hull City are set to sign Reece Burke after talks between the West Ham United defender and Derby County collapsed.
The newspaper had earlier claimed Derby had tried to hijack Burke’s move to the KCOM Stadium, with the 21-year-old ‘tempted’ by the West Ham connections of Derby’s new manager Frank Lampard.
But Hull are now said to have been left with a ‘clear path’ to land the Hammers’ academy product in a £1.5 million deal – with the Daily Mirror claiming that Burke believes his first team prospects are better in Yorkshire.
According to the Sun, Burke is ‘reluctantly quitting’ West Ham after learning that opportunities would be limited under new boss Manuel Pellegrini – who worked above Lampard at Manchester City – bringing to an end his 12-year association with the club.

It follows the £24 million signing of Issa Diop, with other centre-backs tipped to join the Frenchman at the London Stadium this summer.
The newspaper reports Jordy de Wijs and Nedum Onuoha could also be on their way to Hull, who face Derby in the Championship this coming campaign.
Will the West Ham youngster prove a good addition for Hull – and one that got away for Derby?
