Report: West Ham’s Andre Ayew closing in on Swansea return

West Ham United forward Andre Ayew is reportedly closing in on a move back to Swansea City.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham forward Andre Ayew is closing in on a return to Swansea City 18 months after he swapped south Wales for the London Stadium.

Ayew joined the Hammers after a brilliant season with the Swans where he scored 12 times in the Premier League, but he has never quite been able to replicate that form for the Irons.

The 28-year-old has scored nine goals in 43 top flight games for West Ham, and it appears that he may not get the chance to add to that record as a move to their Premier League rivals may now be on the cards.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Ayew is now getting close to securing a move back to Swansea where he will be hoping to help Carlos Carvalhal’s side get themselves out of trouble.

The Swans are bottom of the table, four points off safety and finding the back of the net has certainly been their biggest problem, with just 14 goals coming in 23 games.

And Carvalhal will be looking, if they manage to get a deal across the line, for Ayew to make the difference and lead the revival, while West Ham will be hoping – with their situation still somewhat precarious – that any sale does not come back to haunt them.
