West Ham have reportedly failed with a move for Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite.

According to French media outlet RMC Sport, West Ham United have failed with a €10million (£8.5million) bid to sign Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite.

The Hammers picked up a third win in a row this afternoon as they beat Swansea City 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium, with Andre Ayew, Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll all getting on the scoresheet for Slaven Bilic’s side.

Despite an improved attacking performance, it’s clear that West Ham still need more firepower in the January transfer window, after seeing summer signings Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza struggle in front of goal.

A host of strikers have been linked with the club ahead of January, and another name can be added to the list in Toulouse star Martin Braithwaite.

French media outlet RMC Sport, West Ham have offered €10million (£8.5million) for Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite, but the French club have rejected that opening bid.

Braithwaite, 25, has hit seven goals in 16 league games for Toulouse this season, building on his record of 13 goals in 40 appearances last season.

The Danish international, formerly of Esbjerg, has impressed in France since signing for Toulouse in August 2013, with his athletic ability and technical qualities making him one of the most dangerous attackers in French football.

It’s no surprise that West Ham are keen on such an in-form goalscorer, but it’s claimed that Toulouse don’t want to sell Braithwaite – who is under contract until 2019 – and actually want to pair him with a new striker in January, having lost Wissam Ben Yedder to Sevilla over the summer, and West Ham may have to considerably increase their bid to land the Dane in January.
