According to The Mirror, West Ham United wonderkid Reece Oxford is set for a shock loan move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
Oxford, 18, has been billed as one of West Ham’s top young talents for many years now, and he hit the headlines in August 2015 with a stellar performance away at Arsenal, playing a key role as West Ham won 2-0.

The England youth international has made just 13 Premier League appearances since then though, and he was loaned out to Reading earlier this year in order to play first-team football – but his move to the Madejski Stadium did not reap the desired rewards.
Now, Oxford – who can play at centre back or in holding midfield – is set for another loan move away from West Ham as he struggles to stake a place for a first-team spot, but his next move could be a big surprise.

The Mirror report that Oxford will join German side Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long loan deal this summer, in order to try and further his development away from the London Stadium.
Gladbach have seen Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen flourish in a two-year loan spell with the club, but with the Dane now heading back to London, Oxford could come in as his replacement.

A move abroad will certainly give Oxford some exposure to a different type of football, and playing for a competitive team in a league as tough as the Bundesliga could be huge for his progression.
Just how much first-team football Oxford will play is unclear though, and the Hammers will surely want reassurances that the German side will use Oxford prominently, as they won’t want a repeat of his disappointing Reading loan spell.
