According to the Daily Star, West Ham and Wolves are interested in bringing Wissam Ben Yedder to the Premier League.
What’s the story?
Well, this is a very exciting rumour for West Ham and Wolves fans to digest.
The Daily Star (print edition from July 6th) believe David Moyes and Bruno Lage are keen to sign the France international after his stunning form for Monaco last season.
In the 2021/22 campaign, Ben Yedder impressively scored 32 goals in 52 appearances, while also providing seven assists as Monaco finished third in Ligue 1.
Now, the Frenchman – who Monaco paid £37m for – could be moving to the Premier League.
Moyes is said to be desperate for a new striker at the London Stadium, as he is still yet to replace Sebastien Haller.
The Ivorian left for Ajax in January 2021, and has even just sealed a move to Borussia Dortmund, all before the Hammers have found a replacement for him.
With Europa League football again on the schedule for next season, Moyes cannot afford to let Michail Antonio do everything by himself again up top – depth is needed, especially as the Jamaica international is prone to injuries.
Wissam Ben Yedder would shine for West Ham or Wolves
In our view, despite the fact he is now 31 years of age, Ben Yedder would thrive in the Premier League.
The Frenchman has become an icon in France, scoring 126 goals in Ligue 1 throughout his career.
As the Ligue 1 official website shows, he has even outdone Zlatan Ibrahimovic by scoring more than 15 goals in a Ligue 1 season on six different occasions.
To outdo someone as legendary as the Swede takes some doing, so Ben Yedder’s qualities as a goalscorer certainly shouldn’t be downplayed.
