According to the Daily Record, West Ham and Wolves are now interested in signing Kilmarnock defender Charlie McArthur, who is also wanted by Liverpool.

What’s the story?

Well, the 16-year-old talent is being heavily monitored by Premier League sides, with Brighton also interested in his services.

The Seagulls are said to be planning a £275,000 bid for the teenager, in an attempt to fend off West Ham, Wolves and Liverpool.

It was Football Scotland who revealed that Liverpool admire McArthur, with Manchester City also said to be keen to sign him.

The youngster has already made a handful of first-team appearances for Kilmarnock, and is a very highly rated defender.

McArthur – who has been described as a “dream to work with” – has amassed seven caps for the Scotland Under-17 side, and looks to have a very bright future in the game.

Charlie McArthur should ignore West Ham & Wolves to join Liverpool

In our view, McArthur should ignore David Moyes and Bruno Lage in favour of linking up with Jürgen Klopp at Anfield.

It sounds strange to say, as you would expect the teenager to receive more first-team opportunities at the London Stadium or Molineux as opposed to Anfield.

However, Klopp has put his faith in a number of youngsters this season, such as Tyler Morton, Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon.

As far as the German is concerned, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

With Klopp’s exceptional ability to improve players, McArthur would be crazy to move anywhere other than Anfield.

Keep an eye on this saga, as nobody knows where the exciting Kilmarnock prodigy will end up.
