West Ham United look set to face an uphill battle trying to bring Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen in this January.

According to a report from the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (2nd January 2018; 14:18), West Ham have made an enquiry for Stoke midfielder Joe Allen and they are willing to pay £15 million for the Welshman – though it appears that they face a hard time trying to convince the Potters to sell.

Allen has impressed during his time at the bet365 Stadium. The 27-year-old has made 20 Premier League appearances this term, scoring once – in the win over West Brom – and providing four assists for Mark Hughes’ men.

That form has attracted interest from elsewhere, with David Moyes keen on bringing the former Liverpool man to the London Stadium as he looks to boost the Hammers’ survival hopes.

And the Daily Mail’s live transfer feed (2nd January 2018; 14:18) reports that the Irons have now confirmed their interest by making an enquiry about the midfielder’s availability – though Stoke have responded by insisting that he is not for sale at any price.

The Mail adds that West Ham are prepared to pay £15 million for Allen. However, based on Stoke’s tough stance, it may not be out of the question to suggest that they will need to make an offer involving a significantly greater amount if they want their divisional rivals to consider any bids that come in.

West Ham will be hoping to move themselves out of the bottom three in the Premier League when they host West Brom at the London Stadium on Tuesday night, and it could be Stoke who take their place if results go against the Potters.
