West Ham United would be happy to buy Junior Firpo from Barcelona but, according to ESPN, the former Spain U21 star would not be guaranteed first-team football at the London Stadium.
Considering the former Real Betis flyer has started just 12 La Liga games in 18 months at the Camp Nou, you’d think he would only consider leaving for a club where he would be more than merely an expensive bench-warmer.
But it just so happens that AC Milan and West Ham, the two most likely destinations for Firpo, already have a decent left-back or two at their disposal.
Barring a nightmare evening against Juventus two weeks ago, Theo Hernandez has been comfortably the best left-sider in Italian football this season; a rampaging, runaway train of a full-back with four goals and three assists to his name.
At West Ham, Aaron Cresswell has enjoyed perhaps his best season since 2014/15 while the usually-erratic Arthur Masuaku was in the form of his life before undergoing knee surgery.

According to ESPN, West Ham are currently leading Milan in the race for Firpo’s signature due to their willingness to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent deal.
Attack-minded and blessed with explosive pace, Firpo would be an ideal fit for the wing-back system Moyes preferred earlier in the season.
But, regardless of which formation Moyes chooses, Firpo would not be guaranteed a place in the team.
