Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim West Ham United are interested in Inter Milan defender Andrea Ranocchia this month, as well as winger Antonio Candreva.

Ranocchia, 30, is out of contract at Inter and is likely to leave the Serie A outfit this month, after failing to make a single appearance for Luciano Spalletti’s side this season.

West Ham have been linked with a move to sign Inter speed machine Candreva over the weekend, but CalcioMercato’s report claims the Hammers are targeting another Inter man in Ranocchia.

The Hammers have options at centre-back in Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop, as well as Angelo Ogbonna, Reece Oxford and Winston Reid – but the latter has been injured for the entire season and has failed to make a single outing.

Ogbonna has been linked with a return to Italy, while Oxford’s future at West Ham is also in doubt with former loan side Borussia Monchengladbach tabling a £10.8million offer to sign the England youth international, according to Bild.

Italy international Ranocchia has Premier League experience, after turning out for Hull City during the second half of the 2016-17 campaign. He scored two goals in 16 games and impressed in the Tigers’ fight against the drop.

Now, he could make a return to England by moving to east London with the Hammers, with a fee likely to be cut-price due to his contract expiring at the San Siro in June.
