According to Corriere dello Sport, West Ham United are particularly keen on signing Spezia striker M’Bala Nzola.
It’s claimed that many Premier League clubs want to sign Nzola, but West Ham are at the front of the queue for his signature.
Spezia want to keep him, but having signed him on a free transfer from Trapani last summer, a quick profit may be appealing.
Nzola is something of a late bloomer, as he drifted around clubs like Academica, Sertanense, Virtus Francavilla, Carpi and Trapani before becoming a star with Spezia.
Nzola hit nine goals in 35 games last season, and then took Serie A by storm with seven goals in 10 outings this season.
The 24-year-old Frenchman isn’t particularly well known right now, but he offers real pace, and is well-built at 6ft 1in tall.
West Ham are in the market for another striker to support Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller, and Nzola may fit the profile.
One potential problem for West Ham is that La Nazione report that Fiorentina could take Nzola in a swap deal for Christian Kouame, so the Hammers may have to be quick with any January bid.
