According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham United are hoping to take Juventus striker Simone Zaza on loan following Andre Ayew’s injury.

The Hammers have been linked with a host of striker throughout the summer, but manager Slaven Bilic swooped to land versatile forward Ayew from Swansea City, and snapped up Jonathan Calleri on loan from Deportivo Maldonado.

However, Ayew has now suffered a thigh injury, Diafra Sakho’s future remains up in the air, and Andy Carroll appears to have picked up yet another injury, leaving the Hammers short in attack again.

Now, Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that West Ham are once again interested in signing Juventus attacker Simone Zaza, who has been linked with a move to East London all summer.

Zaza, 25, joined Juventus from Sassuolo last summer, and whilst he scored eight goals last term, he spent most of the season as a backup to the likes of Alvaro Morata, Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic.

Gonzalo Higuain has arrived to replace Morata, meaning Zaza remains Massimiliano Allegri’s fourth-choice striker – and the Italian international may look to leave having seen a move to Wolfsburg fall through.

It’s claimed that, with Ayew out until the end of the year, West Ham are once again interested in Zaza, and could take him on loan with the obligation to purchase him once he’s made a certain number of appearances.

That could work out well for West Ham, given that Zaza had a record of around one goal in every three games for Sassuolo, and would give Bilic another goal threat in the final third.
