A report in The Sun has suggested that West Ham have earmarked Jack Wilshere as their priority transfer target this summer, and are prepared to pay £30 million to land the Arsenal midfielder.
According to The Sun, Wilshere is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of next season, and despite being offered a new deal by the Gunners, the 25-year-old is unsure about extending his stay.
The Sun suggests that the Bournemouth loanee is concerned about the amount of first-team action he will get if he stays at Arsenal, potentially paving the way for a summer exit.
West Ham are ready to hand him the chance to make a fresh start, with The Sun suggesting that they are ready to pay the staggering eight-figure fee to make a move happen.
Although Wilshere on his day, can be an exceptional talent and has largely proven during his time at the Vitality Stadium that he can avoid prolonged spells on the sidelines with injury, it seems unlikely that the Hammers fans would be unanimously happy about the idea of signing Wilshere for £30 million.
Despite the positives, the England international has shown little this term to suggest that he should command such a significant fee with no goals and just two assists coming in 23 Premier League appearances this season.
But if Wilshere manages to find the form that he only showed fleetingly at Arsenal, then perhaps that fee will ultimately prove to be a good piece of business if a sensational move takes place.
