According to Calciomercato, West Ham are admirers of VfL Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst, who’s also wanted by José Mourinho’s Roma.
The Italian news outlet state that the 28-year-old is liked by David Moyes’ side, who are on the lookout for a new frontman.
In Weghorst, the Irons have identified a lethal target, to say the least.
The 4-cap Netherlands international has scored an impressive 25 goals in all competitions this season, in 41 appearances.
Weghorst has also provided nine assists, proving he knows how to create goals as well as score them.
So, what type of player is he?
Well, in terms of a comparison, he has been likened to former Manchester City hitman Edin Džeko.
Former VfL Wolfsburg attacker Grafite – who played with both Weghorst and Džeko in Germany – is quoted by the Bundesliga’s official website as saying: “Wout is great, I love the way he plays – it reminds me of Edin.
“I think he can score more next season. He’s not quite at Edin’s level yet, but he’s on the right path to become a top striker. He’s focussed, he’s got technique, he’s got power – I like it.”

Even departing Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick, who trains the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sané on a daily basis, was left impressed by Weghorst.
Again quoted by the Bundesliga, Flick called the West Ham target “one of the best in the league” before Matchday 12 in Germany’s top-flight.
Weghorst’s manager, Olivier Glasner, also went as far as saying that the Dutchman is among the most dangerous players he’s ever coached (Bundesliga).

VfL Wolfsburg’s No.9 isn’t just a flash in the pan either.
Last season, he scored 20 goals, while also providing five assists.
By all accounts, Weghorst is a fine striker, who would be a brilliant addition for West Ham at the London Stadium.
