West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for Chuba Akpom in the final days of the transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, West Ham are considering a move for Chuba Akpom as Manuel Pellegrini looks to bolster his striker options during the final days of the transfer window.
Akpom is, of course, no stranger to the Premier League. He spent 16 years on Arsenal’s books before joining current club PAOK last summer. He made 12 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, but failed to score a single goal.
However, his transfer to Greece appears to have been a brilliant move for his career. Akpom scored eight goals and contributed five assists in all competitions as PAOK went on to win the title.
The Daily Mail suggests that he could soon make a return to England, with West Ham interested in bringing him to the London Stadium. The Mail notes that the Hammers sent scouts to watch him play a pre-season friendly against Fortuna Sittard, and he vindicated their trip by scoring four goals in a 5-1 win.

The report adds that he is valued at around £5 million, having cost £900,000 last summer, and has Rennes and Mainz also tracking his progress.
Akpom has not been prolific during his career. But something appears to have clicked since his move to Greece, and he could well be worth the gamble given that Sebastien Haller is going to shoulder the majority of the goalscoring burden during the coming campaign.
If his four goals in the friendly is a sign of what is to come from Akpom, then spending £5 million could prove to be a masterstroke from the Irons if they do indeed make their move.
