According to Voetbal Belgie, West Ham and Aston Villa want to sign Jack Hendry, although Newcastle and their newfound wealth do too.
What’s the story?
Well, Hendry has shone since joining Club Brugge for €4.5m (£4m), and is now attracting interest from the Hammers, Villans and Magpies.
The 26-year-old has taken to life in the Jupiler Pro League like a duck to water, and also looks at home in the Champions League.
On the topic of the Champions League, Hendry has come up against the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, where he has held his own.
It’s no wonder West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle (Daily Mail) all want to sign him.
Hendry has made 16 appearances in all competitions, and even captained Club Brugge in five league games this season.
West Ham must watch out for Newcastle
In our view, West Ham are the likeliest to sign Hendry if David Moyes firms up his interest with a bid, as the Irons can offer Europa League football.
However, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) have made Newcastle a financial force to be reckoned with.
Newcastle’s new owners are worth £320bn, and can basically afford to sign any player on the planet.
In that respect, the Magpies could blow West Ham out of the water if it comes down to a bidding war for Hendry.
Whatever happens, the man likened to John Stones would be a fantastic signing for any of the Premier League clubs interested in him.
At 26, he has plenty of time to improve, and is already playing at a very high level regardless with Champions League football on the agenda.
