West Ham United would like to loan Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley next season, the Daily Mail suggest.
West Ham have been credited with the interest for some time, but the Mail say that they would prefer to loan him than buy him outright.
Chelsea may well be aiming to offload Barkley permanently, as he appears to have little future at Stamford Bridge.
But if no parties are willing to pay their asking price then a loan to the Hammers could suit.
An appealing addition
Barkley could be an appealing option for West Ham too.
He made an extremely bright start at Aston Villa, but his form tailed off after injury.
With West Ham competing in Europe they will need to bolster their options in midfield, though.
Barkley’s two-footed ability, combined with his capabilities to play in a range of roles in midfield could make him a good squad option.
The attacking midfielder also knows Moyes from working with him at Everton, with the Scot calling him ‘outstanding’ during that time (Daily Mail).
And on a loan deal, without a long-term commitment, West Ham could make a very smart addition by bringing him in.
