West Ham United are looking to bring Red Bull Salzburg star Rasmus Kristensen to the Premier League but face competition from Borussia Dortmund, as reported by Sport BILD.
Nine goals and seven assists in just 30 games. These are statistics you would normally associate with an exciting winger or a forward-thinking attacking midfielder.
When you consider that Kristensen is a right-back – albeit one that would make Dani Alves look conservative by comparison – then those numbers take on an altogether different meaning.
Yes, the Austrian Bundesliga is hardly the most stellar of divisions. But Kristensen’s statistics should not be downplayed.
16 goals and assists in 30 games; This paints the picture of a full-back capable of winnings game all on his own.
No wonder the twice-capped Denmark international has his fair share of admirers.
Will West Ham finally sign Rasmus Kristensen?
Sport BILD claim that the £10 million Kristensen, who faces an almighty test of his mettle in tonight’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, is a target for Dortmund, Wolfsburg and a Roma side coached by none other than Jose Mourinho.
West Ham are also keen. Not for the first time either.
According to The Guardian, the Hammers tried to sign Kristensen nearly two years ago. David Moyes even suggested that a ‘proper bid’ had been lodged for a player re-born at Salzburg after a difficult spell at Ajax.
Well, they do say Red Bull gives you wings.

The Mail add that West Ham first opened talks with Kristensen in January 2020. Will it be a case of ‘third time lucky’?
There’s certainly reason for optimism. Salzburg are often reluctant to stand in the way of key players offered the opportunity to translate their talents to a far larger stage.
In recent windows, Salzburg have cashed in on Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai, Patson Daka, Hwang-Hee Chan and Takumi Minamino. Three of whom are now plying their trade in the Premier League.
Brenden Aaronson, the silky USA international admired by Leeds United, could join Minamino and co before long.
