According to the Express & Star, West Ham are now interested in signing Adama Traore, who is also a target for Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spain international has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Molineux, and he is likely to depart Molineux this summer if Wolves receive a suitable offer.

As a result of his contract situation, the Express & Star believe Wolves are happy to accept £10m for Traore, which seems to have alerted West Ham.

Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, having tried to sign the 26-year-old in January as well.

Back then, Antonio Conte missed out on Traore to Barcelona, who secured a six-month loan deal with a £29m option to buy.

However, Xavi decided against triggering that option, after the explosive winger failed to score in 16 appearances.

Interestingly, Rio Ferdinand has previously likened Traore to Michail Antonio, stating that the Spaniard can “bully” defenders if turned into a striker like the Jamaica international has been.

Speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel, the 43-year-old said: “Do you know what I’d do? I might even play him up front. Play him up top all the time and just keep him up front like an Antonio at West Ham. Let him bully people.”

Unfortunately, David Moyes and Conte might have to pursue other targets if Traore receives bad news following a scan in Barcelona.

According to the Express & Star, the Wolves No.37 has left Bruno Lage’s training camp in Alicante, and is currently in Catalonia to have his hamstring injury assessed.

Depending on the severity of the injury, Traore may miss out on a transfer this summer.

He wouldn’t be able to undergo a proper medical with a hamstring injury, and most sides wouldn’t bother taking the risk.

If Traore’s issue clears up before the transfer window ends on September 1st, then he should be fine to complete a move away from Wolves.

However, if it keeps him out of action beyond that, we fear he may have to wait until 2023 to leave the Midlands.
