West Ham United have walked away from a deal for Nikola Milenkovic, the Daily Mail say.

West Ham are keen on the Fiorentina defender and recently made an offer worth over £20 million.

However, the Hammers saw that bid rejected, with Fiorentina holding out for a bigger fee.

It is said that the Italian side were willing to negotiate with West Ham, but David Moyes’s men ended up feeling that the transfer would just be too expensive.

It is the latest in a long list of failed bids for West Ham this summer, with the London club really struggling to strengthen their backline.

Moyes made bringing in a centre-back one of his top priorities at the start of the summer, but still no deal has been secured.

West Ham are now running out of time to find a new defender, with the transfer deadline edging ever closer, but it still seems that they are determined not to be forced into paying over the odds for players, considering their reluctance to buy Milenkovic.
