West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has asked the squad at the London Stadium whether he should be interested in Dimitri Payet.

Payet left West Ham to join Marseille in acrimonious circumstances back in 2017, and he was heavily criticised by supporters of the London side for the way he went about his departure.
However, Payet’s agents have now contacted West Ham to suggest that he would be willing to return.

Manuel Pellegrini is now said to be muling of the transfer, and he asked West Ham’s players for their opinions about him returning yesterday.
The Hammers squad are understood to have told Pellegrini that they would welcome Payet back, if he was brought in at the London Stadium.

Payet was a talismanic figure at West Ham during his stint with the club, and there is little doubting that he would improve the quality of their squad.
However, Marseille are said to be wanting over £25 million for the attacking midfielder, and the deal still is some way off being completed yet.
