Italian giants Juventus and Spanish club Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the 18-year-old central defender, according to the report.
The report has claimed that the youngster is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, and that he is involved in the France Under-18 set-up.
Long-term prospect
Matsima is only 18 years of age and does not have much first-team experience at Monaco.
It is clear that the teenager is not ready to play week in and week out for West Ham, who have to view him as a long-term signing.
One suspects that if West Ham do sign him, then he would be drafted into the club’s youth team.
However, with Juventus and Atletico also reportedly interested in him, it would be tough for the Hammers to convince the teenager to make the switch to the London Stadium this summer.
West Ham narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League to the Championship this season.
