Southampton, Everton and Manchester United all have reportedly enquired about signing Salisu from Spanish club Valladolid in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have now joined the race for the centre-back, who is eager to move to the Premier League this summer despite interest from French club Rennes, according to the report.
The 21-year-old has a release clause of £10.8 million, according to the report, which has added that Southampton have made an offer less than that amount and that Everton have the youngster as an option.

According to WhoScored, Salisu has made 30 starts and one substitute appearance in La Liga for Valladolid so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.
Meanwhile, The Sun has reported that Tomas Soucek will automatically make his loan move to West Ham permanent if the Hammers do not get relegated from the Premier League.
The report in the British tabloid has added that the 25-year-old defensive midfielder – on loan from Slavia Prague – will sign a four-year contract for a transfer fee of £15 million.
