Report: West Ham United think they have funds for Callum Wilson

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini recently sanctioned the sale of Marko Arnautovic, which means that they need a striker.

According to a report in the London Evening Standard, Marko Arnautovic’s sale has freed up funds for West Ham United to move for Callum Wilson of Bournemouth.

The Standard claim that Manuel Pellegrini is a big fan of Wilson, and West Ham could now move for the rapid England international.

Bournemouth want a big fee for Wilson, but West Ham hope that they have the funds to get him now, as they have raised more money from the sale of Arnautovic.

West Ham want to inject all the funds from Arnautovic’s sale back into the team, with signing a new striker thought to be their priority.

Whether obtaining Wilson will be possible remains to be seen.

The Sun have suggested that Bournemouth are set to offer their main goalscorer a new contract to try keep him at the club, amid links with the Hammers.

Wilson’s price-tag, which could reach £60 million, makes him a risky buy for any club.

The striker is clearly a major threat, but his injury record counts against him, and could worry West Ham.

If the Hammers were to sign Wilson it is likely that he would go straight into their starting line-up for the new campaign.
