According to The Times, West Ham United have considered signing Fabian Delph from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that City are willing to sell Delph this summer and want over £10 million as transfer fee for the 29-year-old former Leeds United midfielder.

The England international, who can also operate as a left-back, earns £80,000 per week as salary at City, and this is why West Ham have been put off, according to the report.

Good signing for West Ham United?

Delph has done well for City since he moved to the Citizens from Aston Villa in the summer of 2015, and he has also added versatility to his game by playing at left-back on occasions under manager Pep Guardiola.

The 29-year-old has been a success in the Premier League, and West Ham will be a better team with the England international in it.

True, Delph’s reported £80,000-a-week salary is high, but if the Hammers want to take the next step and compete regularly for a top-six finish in the Premier League, then they have to pay that sort of wages to attract the right kind of players.
