West Ham United were reportedly readying an offer for the Heart of the Midlothian right-back.
West Ham United were on the brink of a move for Heart of the Midlothian defender Callum Paterson, according to the Daily Record.
It is claimed that the Hammers’ interest in Paterson was ‘very serious’, with manager Slaven Bilic reportedly readying an offer for the Scotland right-back.

Bilic, however, will have to consider alternative targets after Paterson was ruled out until the start of next season with a cruciate ligament injury.
Paterson is out of contract at Hearts in the summer and is said to have been a target for a number of clubs south of the border – notably Derby County and Watford.
West Ham, though, are also in the market for a right-back, and a move to London Stadium would likely have appealed to the 22-year-old, who was born in the English capital before moving to Edinburgh aged three.

The Hammers have been linked with moves for Stoke City’s Glen Johnson and Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson in recent weeks.
Hearts had wanted more than £1 million for Paterson to move in January.
Would Paterson have been a good signing for West Ham United?
