According to a report on Football.London, West Ham United have made bringing Sunderland defender Lamine Kone to the London Stadium one of their priorities in the January transfer window.

David Moyes is set to be given funds to spend at West Ham next month, and signing defenders is a considered vital.

Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson is West Ham’s top target, but Kone is also said to be a priority buy.

Sunderland are unlikely to stand in the way of Kone, if West Ham do make a significant offer, as he has been in poor form this season.

Chris Coleman has not used the Ivorian, and his time on Wearside appears to be coming to an end.

Kone has actually shown very little over the past 18 months at Sunderland, but when he initially moved to England, he was in brilliant form.

Moyes worked with Kone at Sunderland, and has apparently seen enough in the centre-back to want to bring him to West Ham.
