West Ham United are continuing negotiations with Manchester United about Issa Diop.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have now asked Manchester United about the possibility of signing midfielder Scott McTominay.
The Hammers are attempting to fend off interest from United in Issa Diop, but are at least listening to what the Red Devils have to offer.
It’s believed that United are willing to offer up a player plus at least £45million in a move for star defender Diop, but no deal has been reached.
Sky’s latest report suggests that West Ham have now asked for midfielder McTominay, and it remains to be seen how United respond to that request.
McTominay, 22, enjoyed a decent end to the season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and whilst United are pursuing midfield reinforcements, McTominay should still have a role to play.
The Scotland international may not be flashy, but he’s big, physical and a hard worker, meaning Solskjaer may well want to keep him around.
West Ham are in the market for a new defensive midfielder, and McTominay certainly fits the bill as a player to support Declan Rice and Mark Noble, even if he wouldn’t particularly excite fans.
West Ham’s new demand comes after rejecting Phil Jones (The Sun), and making an audacious failed attempt to get United to part ways with Anthony Martial in the Diop talks (The Independent).
