According to Football London, West Ham United boss David Moyes will be in the market for two defenders this summer.

West Ham thumped Southampton 3-0 at the London Stadium on Saturday to move five points clear of the bottom three and although they are far from safe, it was a big step toward safety.

And it would appear as if the Scottish manager is in the process of preparing for next season after Football London reported that Moyes wants to bring two centre-backs to East London when the transfer window opens.

The report goes on to state that it is not a pre-emptive measure in the event that highly-rated Declan Rice – who impressed this past weekend – will leave the club this summer.

At 19, Rice is the Irons’ only centre-back option under the age of 29, with Angelo Ogbonna and the injured Winston Reid both 29, while James Collins turns 35 in August.

Ogbonna and Rice is looking like a very decent partnership and although Reid is also brilliant, he is no stranger to an injury and it makes perfect sense for Moyes to bolster his back-up options.
