Harold Moukoudi is reportedly close to joining West Ham United.

Fans arrive at the London Stadium during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Burnley at London Stadium on March 10, 2018 in London, England.

Sky Sports News’ Live Transfer Blog [04/08/2018, 17:26] has reported that West Ham United are “close to signing” Harold Moukoudi.

The Le Havre centre-back has been interesting West Ham and Derby County in recent days, according to The Daily Mail.

But it looks like West Ham are set to win the race as Sky Sports claim that a £10.7 million deal is in the offing after talks between the Irons and Le Havre had ‘progressed’.

If and when that one materialises, it might be good news for Newcastle United.

In July, Sky Sports claimed that West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini had seen a bid rejected by the Magpies for Jamaal Lascelles, but if Moukoudi joins then it will be a clear sign that the Newcastle star has gone off their radar.

But could a move for Moukoudi also have ramifications for Angelo Ogbonna?

The Italy centre-half has been linked with a move away from East London, with Pellegrini signing Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena this summer already – additions which threaten the big defender.

And maybe, just maybe, a move for the 20-year-old Moukoudi could be with an eye on replacing the former Napoli-linked star.

The London Stadium is seen ahead of the English Premier League football match between West Ham United and Swansea City at The London Stadium, in east London on April 8, 2017.
